  1. First find the correct plugin that matches the version of Adpoint installed on your system

  2. If you do not already have the latest Anastasiy’s Extension Manager installed, please download and install it from here: Anastasiy’s Extension Manager.

  5. If there is already an extension called http://com.integrationx.client installed, then select it and click Remove from the menu. You may get prompted to enter your local system password to the accept the removal.

  6. Click Install and select the plugin file which was downloaded in point 2 above. This will install the plugin. You may get prompted to enter your local system password to the accept installation.

  7. Quit Anastasiy’s Extension Manager

  8. Open InDesign

Configuring the plugin

In ADPOINT, go to the Admin menu and select “Reset InDesign Folder“.
You will be prompted to select the directory where the plugin will store its files.
The path must be: [username]/adpoint
If the ‘/adpoint’ folder does not exist in the [username] folder please create it.
Click the Select Folder button once the dialog points to the [username]/adpoint folder.

Select any print production order. Open the Actions Menu and select “Open in InDesign”

Using the InDesign plugin from ADPOINT X1

The InDesign plugin for ADPOINT X1 is used to open print orders in InDesign. It works with orders that have already been opened in InDesign and where an InDesign document exists as well as orders where an InDesign file does not exist yet.

Launching ADPOINT X1 and InDesign applications

  1. Launch ADPOINT X1 in your Chrome browser and log in

  2. Launch InDesign

INFO: Please note that due to security measures, ADPOINT X1 currently cannot launch the InDesign application automatically. Both ADPOINT X1 and InDesign must be launched manually. Please make sure ADPOINT X1 is started and logged in before launching InDesign.

  1. In ADPOINT X1, find the order that you want to open. Open the Context Menu and select “Open in InDesign”

Creating a Template

You can create a template in InDesign and assign it to one or more customers in Adpoint by following these steps:

  1. Open an order in InDesign directly from Adpoint.

  2. Design the template as you wish.

  3. In the plugin, go to the More ˇ dropdown menu and select Save/Overwrite Template.

  4. Provide the following details:

    • Template Name: Give your template a clear and descriptive name.

    • Assign to Customers: Select one or more customers to assign the template to.

    • Description (optional): Add a short description for future reference.

  5. Click Save Template to save your work.

Opening an Order as a Template from Adpoint

  1. Locate the order you want to open in InDesign. Right-click on it and select Open Template from the context menu.

  1. From the list of available templates, select the one you wish to use and click Open in the top-right corner.

Helpful Tips:

  • If the list contains many templates, you can use the Search functionality or Filter Templates (default is "All templates") to narrow down your options.

  • Check the Fit to Booked Size box to ensure the template fits the booked size of the order.

Deleting a template from Adpoint

  1. Locate the order you want to delete. Right-click on it and select Open Template from the context menu.

  2. From the list of available templates, select the one you wish to delete and click Delete in the top-right corner.

Features of the plugin

The buttons on the plug in panel works as follows:

(All/Assets/Visual/InDesign documents)

Match: Match assets by either matspec or customer

Modification: Show assets in the list by modification date (3/6/12 months or all)

Reset to default: Resets settings to the default settings set in the Setting tab

The InDesign document and linked files is uploaded to ADPOINT X1 without a PDF being generated.

Save and Export

Use this to save and export a PDF using default joboptions. A PDF is uploaded to ADPOINT X1 where it appears as a production file.

The InDesign document is closed and uploaded to ADPOINT X1 including linked files.

Save and export custom

Use this to save and export a PDF with custom joboptions. You can enter the custom joboptions in the Export Adobe PDF window. When clicking “Export” a PDF with the custom joboptions is uploaded to ADPOINT X1 where it appears as a production file.

This option is invoked from the ADPOINT user interface and enables the document to be shown in InDesign in view-only mode. This means that the document cannot be saved back, nor is it locked for other users. This feature is useful for copying content from an InDesign document when changes are not needed. View only mode is indicated by a blue View only badge in the plugin panel.

Save/Overwrite template

Saves or overwrites the InDesign document as a template. A dialog is shown with default size, description and name. It is also possible to assign the template to one or more customers.

Order tab

Opens a list of assets attached to the currently opened order.
Assets can be dragged from the list directly to the InDesign layout.

Search boxfield: Start typing to search the list of assets by filename.
The x clears the search and shows all assets.

Sort menu: Select the sort order (Newest/Oldest Date)

Show: Select which assets to show (All/Placed/Unplaced)

All: Select which asset types to show

Composite tab

The Composite tab is only visible when a composite “mother” order is opened. It shows a list of the “child orders” to the composite order including a preview, order information and the latest status.

The “child orders” can be dragged from the list to the InDesign Layout.

Annotations tab

Shows a list of annotations from the latest version of the current order.

Show Annotations: Switch to show or hide annotations in a separate layer on top of the layout.

Show reviewed: Switch between modes to show or hide annotations that are marked as “reviewed”

Click the annotations in the panel to highlight the annotation on top of the layout.

Check the Review button to mark an annotation as reviewed.

Log

The Log window is used to display the processes performed by the plugin. The content may be required for debugging purposes.

Trash can

Clears the text in the log window.
