This plugin in required for ADPPOINT X1 users that run the ADPOINT X1.3

Installation

Installing the ADPPOINT X1 plugin for InDesign

  1. Download InDesign plugin for ADPOINT X1.3 v.1.8.8.6

  2. f you do not already have the latest Anastasiy’s Extension Manager installed, please download and install it from here: Anastasiy’s Extension Manager.

  3. Quit any running instances of InDesign

  4. Open Anastasiy’s Extension Manager on your PC or Mac and select InDesign in the Adobe Products column:

  5. If there is already an extension called http://com.integrationx.client installed, then select it and click Remove from the menu. You may get prompted to enter your local system password to the accept the removal.

  6. Click Install and select the plugin file which was downloaded in point 2 above. This will install the plugin. You may get prompted to enter your local system password to the accept installation.

  7. Quit Anastasiy’s Extension Manager

  8. Open InDesign

Using the InDesign plugin from ADPPOINT X1

The InDesign plugin for ADPOINT X1 is used to open print orders in InDesign. It works with orders that have already been opened in InDesign and where an InDesign document exists as well as orders where an InDesign file does not exist yet.

Launching ADPPOINT X1 and InDesign applications

  1. Launch ADPPOINT X1 in your Chrome browser and log in

  2. Launch InDesign

WARNING: Please note that due to security measures, ADPPOINT X1 currently cannot launch the InDesign application automatically. Both ADPPOINT X1 and InDesign must be launched manually. Please make sure ADPPOINT X1 is started and logged in before launching InDesign.

Opening InDesign documents from ADPPOINT X1

  1. In ADPOINT X1, find the order that you want to open. Open the Context Menu and select “Open in InDesign”

  2. You will be prompted to let ADPOINT X1 view files in the folder assigned above.
    Click the View files buttons to accept:

  3. You will also be prompted to save changes.
    Also accept this by clicking the Save Changes button:

     

  4. Now the connection between ADPOINT X1 and InDesign is established

  5. In the InDesign application the plugin is controlled through the plugin panel:

Features of the plugin

The buttons on the plug in panel works as follows:

Save

The InDesign document and linked files is uploaded to ADPOINT X1 without a PDF being generated.

Save and Export

Use this to save and export a PDF using default joboptions. A PDF is uploaded to ADPPOINT X1 where it appears as a production file.

The InDesign document is closed and uploaded to ADPPOINT X1 including linked files.

Save and close

The InDesign document and linked files is uploaded to ADPPOINT X1 without a PDF being generated. The InDesign document is closed.

Save and export custom

Use this to save and export a PDF with custom joboptions. You can enter the custom joboptions in the Export Adobe PDF window. When clicking “Export” a PDF with the custom joboptions is uploaded to ADPPOINT X1 where it appears as a production file.

The InDesign document is closed and uploaded to ADPPOINT X1 including linked files.

Save/Overwrite template

Saves or overwrites the InDesign document as a template. A dialog is shown with default size, description and name. It is also possible to assign the template to one or more customers.

Order tab

Opens a list of assets attached to the currently opened order.
Assets can be dragged from the list directly to the InDesign layout.

Clicking the refresh symbol by the end of the menu - Screenshot 2024-08-16 at 10.32.40.png - the list of assets is renewed and any assets added since the InDesign document was opened will be added to the list.

Search field: Start typing to search the list of assets by filename.
The x clears the search and shows all assets.

Sort menu: Select the sort order (Newest/Oldest Date)

Show: Select which assets to show (All/Placed/Unplaced)

All: Select which asset types to show (All/Assets/Visual/InDesign documents)

Match: Match assets by either matspec or customer

Modification: Show assets in the list by modification date (3/6/12 months or all)

Reset to default: Resets settings to the default settings set in the Setting tab

Composite tab

The Composite tab is only visible when a composite “mother” order is opened. It shows a list of the “child orders” to the composite order including a preview, order information and the latest status.

The “child orders” can be dragged from the list to the InDesign Layout.

Details tab

Shows a list of order details for information purposes. The content of the list is subject to individual configuration.

Notes tab

Shows a list of notes added to the current order.

Annotations tab

Shows a list of annotations from the latest version of the current order.

Show Annotations: Switch to show or hide annotations in a separate layer on top of the layout.

Show reviewed: Switch between modes to show or hide annotations that are marked as “reviewed”

Click the annotations in the panel to highlight the annotation on top of the layout.

Check the Review button to mark an annotation as reviewed.

Log

The Log window is used to display the processes performed by the plugin. The content may be required for debugging purposes.

Settings

Language: Choose your preferred language from the drop down menu.

Plugin window: Resets plugin window to its standard width and height

Open browser after checkin: A new tab is opened the default browser window. Disabled by default but can be toggled on here.

Default Assets Filters: Set your preferred settings regarding assets here by choosing from the 4 different dropdown menus:

 

Debugging

If the connection between ADPPOINT X1 and InDesign does not work, please try the following:

  1. Go to the user profile menu and select “Reset Ad Production Folder”.

     

  2. Set up connection to InDesign again following the steps from the section named Opening InDesign documents from ADPPOINT X1 above.

New feature: It is now possible to open an InDesign document as read only from ADPPOINT X1. The document can only be viewed - no changes can be saved back to the server when opened in view only mode.

New feature: Ability to sort and filter assets are now added under the Order tab.

New feature: From ADPPOINT X1 it is now possible to select a template to open in InDesign. A list of installed InDesign templates is presented to the user. The selected template is opened in the booked size in InDesign. From InDesign, templates can be saved directly to ADPPOINT X1. Upon doing so, the user is prompted to enter various properties to help identifying the template.

New feature: Annotations created in ADPPOINT X1 can now be viewed inside InDesign. All information from the annotations can be viewed and the annotation view can be switched on and off. Currently only annotations from the newest version can be viewed but we will be adding support to view annotations for all versions soon.

New feature (beta): When an InDesign document is opened from ADPPOINT X1, a browser update is happening automatically. This feature is currently in Beta and we are fixing some known stability issues
